Disciples of Christ

Sincerely,

Mike

“He knew what they were thinking and said to them, “Every kingdom       divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand.”     - Matthew 12:25

What a power was expressed last week in the big project to reach children with hope in God’s love through Jesus Christ.  We tuned ourselves to Jesus channel and played it out from Sunday evening to Friday night.  Their response was wonderful! On Thursday evening children, youth and adults covered the front of the chancel as we prayed for Jesus to give us the power to be thankful,  helpful, brave, live forever and tell others about Jesus.

Big things happened in every area!  Smiles were to be found all around.  On Friday evening, 130 to 150 children, youth, parents and some grandparents were in attendance.  A kids’ friendly meal and cotton candy were served to all who wanted to eat.  We had a carnival in the church yard, which I think was our VBS director Dianna Doering’s idea.  It included an opening worship, a large bounce inflatable in the church yard, along with games like walking on water, bean bag toss, fish bowl game, etc. guided by faithful VBS staff and two happy clowns we shall call Davo and Bobo.

I noticed how the bone weary staff pitched in and worked just as hard on     Friday as on Sunday evening.  It was glorious to be a part of something we all were united with Jesus Christ to achieve!

I thank Him for what he showed me this week.  A house that is united in all its parts is strong in good!  The essential element in this happening for the Church is found where we join our Lord Jesus in what He wants.  That is where we will find the power to see His glory to bless people’s lives.

Lord Jesus,

Wow!  Thanks you for bringing us together and continuing to call us along from day to day, week to week, and year to year to serve Your         wonderful life-changing good.  Amen.
